It was a great pleasure to team up with Curious Spark, who collaborated with Window Wanderland CIC to create the final element of an extensive project focusing on the Progress of Queen Elizabeth I through Norfolk.
We were able to offer creative sessions to school groups and the general public to explore our sense of belonging to a place or community, and how Queen Elizabeth I ventured ‘into the unknown’ to connect to her citizens during the 1578 progress.
Participants created stained glass panels using coloured cellophane and black paper, using motifs from historical references relating to Elizabethan England. Families taking part were able to share their thoughts about life during the pandemic and ask 'Queen Elizabeth' a question.
My design brief was to create panels for The 2023 Window Wanderland which was a collection of window displays, designed to be viewed after dark, in shops and business situated across Norwich.
Similar displays were exhibited in Wymondham, Theford, Great Yarmouth and Costessey, led by fellow artist Tim Edwards.
The beautiful work created by workshop participants and school groups was an integral part of my final design for the mural, which was displayed across the front of the Millenium Library during the Norfolk Makers Festival.
Wonderful to see this on display.
